Collaborate on research projects from your Mac
BOINC is a multifetform application that allows you to give your computer inactive time to use its counting capabilities in support of various scientific research projects.
Among others, BOINC collaborates with SETI @ Home (Protein for the treatment of various homeopathic disorders) and Climate Technology.Net (forecasting the effects of global warming).
You can join as many projects as you like. BOINC's interface lets you follow the development of tests with graphs. You can set up to run as a screensaver.
BOINC stores statistics about your contribution, which you can compare to other people around the world who collaborate on these research projects.
